Property

Description

Mode

Specifies how the layers will be combined.  Changing this property can lead to widely varying results.

Strength

Controls the degree of influence that the selected layer will have on the layers below it.  Setting Strength to zero effectively removes the layer from the environment.

Gamma

Modifies the relative brightness of different parts of the selected layer using a gamma curve.  This property can help simulate the response to light that different cameras and display devices have.

Use Mixer

Ordinarily a layer will influence the layers below it evenly across the environment.  However, if you would like the selected layer to only be applied to certain parts of the environment, activate this property.

Amount

Controls how much of the environment will be covered by the selected layer.  This property is only available as long as Use Mixer is set to "Yes."

Contrast

Controls the sharpness of the transition between areas that are covered by the selected layer and those that aren't.  This property is only available as long as Use Mixer is set to "Yes."

Level

In concert with the light sphere described below, this property controls which parts of the environment are covered by the selected layer.  This property is only available as long as Use Mixer is set to "Yes."

Light sphere

In concert with the Level property, the light sphere controls which parts of the environment are covered by the selected layer.  The small white circle on the surface of the light sphere specifies the center of the location that the selected layer will cover.  Change this location by dragging the white circle, or by changing the value fields appearing below the sphere.  This property is only available as long as Use Mixer is set to "Yes."
