Effect Map

Effect Map Image Nodes are unique in that they have no effect on the texture itself.  Instead, these nodes create and manipulate additional channels that can be used by 3D applications (as bump or specular maps, for example).  For an introduction to effect maps and how they're used, please refer to the Using Effect Maps tutorial.

The following image shows a simple example of how these nodes can be used.

Effect Maps

Clear Maps

Removes effect maps that reach the current part of the texture.

Fix Map Contrast

Automatically adjusts the contrast of any effect maps passing through it to make use of the full tonal range from black to white.

Layer Maps

Combines two effect maps in order to create a new one.

Merge Maps

Combines all of the effect maps that it finds in order to create a new one.

Store Map

Creates a new effect map from the input image.
