Free Transform

Overview

Moves, scales, skews, and rotates its input image.  As shown below, the Free Transform node can be used to position a single instance of an object without repeating it, unlike the Move & Repeat node which repeats its input image as it is shrunk.

Free Transform Example

In this example a Free Transform node was used to rotate the

shield slightly and move it to the upper-left corner of the wall.

Free Transform Versus Move And Repeat

Left: Use Free Transform to position a single copy of an image without repeating.

Right: Use Move & Repeat to turn a single image into a repeating pattern.

Inputs

The node's single input provides the source image to be transformed.

Properties

Property

Description

Size

Sets the amount to scale down the input along the axes.

Location

Moves the input image.

Skew

Skews or shears the input image, which causes lines that were at right angles to each other to no longer be at right angles.

Rotation

Rotates the image.

Rotate Order

Specifies whether rotation is applied before or after the other properties.  This property only makes a difference if a skew has been applied.  The options are:

Beginning

Rotation is applied before skew.

End

Rotation is applied after skew.

Seamless

Specifies whether the input wraps around the resulting image in cases where it has moved outside of the texture's boundaries.
