GIF Animation Export (Studio)

Top  Previous  Next

GIF is a format that can be used to add animation to websites.  This animation export type is available both from the Render Animation dialog and the Export Animation dialog.

Animated GIFs do not achieve particularly good compression rates or picture quality, but are useful because they can be added to webpages without needing a browser plug-in to be installed.  Many applications that can open GIF files do not support their animated variant and will only display the first frame of the animation.  If the application you use to open GIFs won't animate them, try opening them in your web browser instead.

Option

Description

Used Colors

Specifies the number of colors the GIF should use to represent the animation.  The maximum value of 256 will yield the highest quality results, while lowering the value will result in smaller file sizes.

Frame Rate

Controls the speed at which the animation will play by specifying how many frames of the animation should be shown each second.

Loop Time

Controls the speed at which the animation will play by specifying how many seconds the animation should take to play once.  This option is an alternative to specifying Frame Rate.

Loop Indefinitely / Play x times

Specifies whether the animation should play endlessly or whether it should play a specific number of times before stopping.  This setting influences certain GIF players, such as web browsers.
