Grate

Select the Grate layer type within the Layer Lab for an effect where a vent or grate is fashioned out of the top material, through which the bottom material can be seen.  These are the properties that become available when this layer type is selected.

Property

Description

Gap Size

Adjusts the size of the spaces within the grate.

Bevel Width

Controls the width of the bevel around the edges of the grate.

Bevel Depth

Regulates the depth of the bevel around the edges of the grate.

Bevel Curve

Positive values will create a more convex bevel, while negative values will make the bevel more concave.

Bevel Ripples

Increase this value to add additional grooves around the edges of the grate, giving the bevel a ripply appearance.

Shadow X

Controls the horizontal displacement of the shadow that the grate casts on the bottom material.

Shadow Y

Controls the vertical displacement of the grate's shadow.

Shadow Softness

Adjusts the edge softness of the grate's shadow.

Shadow Color

Alters the color of the shadow that the grate casts onto the bottom material.  Brighter colors will result in a fainter shadow, with white causing the shadow to disappear altogether.

At the bottom of the Layer Lab is a yellow Select Pattern box that is responsible for controlling the locations of the gaps in the grate.  The options appearing within this box are identical to those of the Select Pattern node.
