Select the Pieces layer type within the Layer Lab for an effect where the top material is broken into pieces that rest on top of the bottom material.  These are the properties that become available when this layer type is selected.

Property

Description

Break Amount

Controls the amount of the original material that has been broken away.  Larger values result in smaller pieces.

Phase

Cycles which parts of the noise (defined at the end) are used to specify the locations of the pieces.

Bevel Width

Adjusts the width of the bevel around the edges of the pieces.

Bevel Depth

Alters the depth of the bevel around the edges of the pieces.

Piece Depth

Changes how deep the pieces appear to be by altering the lengths of their shadows and reflected highlights.

Shadow Color

Alters the color of the shadow that the pieces cast onto the bottom material.  Brighter colors will result in a fainter shadow, with white causing the shadow to disappear altogether.

Reflected Color

Modifies the color of the highlight that is reflected off the pieces onto the bottom material.  Darker colors will result in a fainter highlight, with black causing the highlight to disappear altogether.

At the bottom of the Layer Lab is a yellow Select Noise box that is responsible for controlling the locations of the pieces.  The options appearing within this box are identical to those of the Select Noise node.
