Overview

Smears an image, similar to what might happen if a cloth were dragged over a painting that hadn't fully dried.

Inputs

Input

Description

Original

The original image to be smeared.

Direction

The red channel of this input specifies the direction in which each pixel should be smeared, with black and full intensity red equaling a direction of 0 and 360 degrees, respectively, and therefore amounting to the same direction.

Distance

The red channel of this input specifies the distance by which each pixel should be smeared.  Full intensity red specifies a distance equal to one unit of area, or the entire width of the image.  However, increasing the Size property will decrease the effect of the distance input, since one unit of area will no longer span the entire image.

Properties

Property

Description

Size

Increasing Size will decrease the effect that this node has on the original image.  This property can therefore be thought of as the node's primary strength property.

Samples

Controls the quality of the operation.  Higher values will result in smoother output, but will take longer to render.

Anti-Alias

When active, this property supersamples fractional results rather than simply rounding distorted pixel locations to the nearest pixel.  This reduces the tiny step patterns that might otherwise result.

Seamless

Controls whether the resulting blur will be seamlessly repeatable.
