Overview

 

The Substance Lab is a general purpose material generator that will be the starting point of many textures.

Description

Noise

You have the option to use your own custom noise within the Substance Lab by selecting "Use Input" as a noise type within the Noise section.  Alternatively, you can use the Substance Lab to filter a previously created image by selecting "Use Input" in the Color section.

 

 

 

Property Sections

 

 

Section

Description

Noise

Defines the main noise that the texture is based on.

Color

Specifies how the monochrome noise defined in the previous section is colored to create the base texture.

Modify Colors

Gives the option to modify the colors of the base texture defined in the previous section in only specific areas, according to a noise.

Environment

Use an environment map to realistically light the material.

Roughen

Gives certain parts of the texture a rough appearance.

Elevate

Elevates or depresses parts of the texture based on the main noise.

Shine

Makes the texture shiny.

Distort

Uses a noise to distort the texture.

Fluid

Optionally adds a layer of fluid above the texture.

Adjust Color

Provides an opportunity to apply a final color correction to the entire texture.
